WHO
WE ARE
With a history of activity in aviation noise analysis dating back to 1989, NOISE ACH is a specialized consultancy at the forefront of environmental acoustics in Poland. Our primary focus is on aircraft noise, which is a major environmental issue in the vicinity of airports. We are dedicated to the pursuit of “Environmentally Friendly Aviation,” balancing operational needs with effective noise reduction strategies.
Our firm is led by its founder, Dr. Andrzej Chyla, a renowned specialist in the field. Dr. Chyla’s credentials include a degree as a qualified aeronautical engineer (1972), a doctorate in technical sciences (1985), and a postgraduate degree from the University of Warsaw in the application of mathematics and statistics (1987). His extensive background includes work as a researcher at the Institute of Aviation and the Institute of Construction in Warsaw. His expertise is further enriched by participation in numerous international scientific conferences and technical courses in the USA, UK, Denmark, Belgium, and France.

WHAT
WE DO
At NOISE ACH, we offer a comprehensive suite of services focused on the analysis, management, and mitigation of environmental noise, with a primary specialization in aviation acoustics. Our mission is to support sustainable aviation by providing reliable data and expert consultations that foster a balanced relationship between airports and their neighboring communities.
Our core activities involve developing strategic acoustic maps for airports and cities and preparing detailed environmental impact reports for aviation infrastructure. We design and supervise continuous noise monitoring systems, leveraging advanced tools like the AEDT 2d program—which we were the first in Poland to use for a combined noise and pollution assessment. Furthermore, our expertise supports public institutions in drafting environmental regulations and informs aviation stakeholders on optimizing flight procedures and aircraft fleets to minimize noise.

HOW
WE DO IT
Step 1: Preliminary Assessment
Upon receiving a project request, our team conducts a thorough preliminary assessment of the airport’s specific noise concerns and requirements. We collaborate closely with airport authorities to gather essential information, such as flight schedules, aircraft types, and community feedback.
Step 2: Data Collection
With a comprehensive understanding of the airport’s operations, we begin data collection using state-of-the-art sound level meters and advanced monitoring equipment. We strategically position measurement stations to capture noise emissions from aircraft take-offs, landings, and ground operations.
Step 3: Long and Short-term Measurements
We perform a combination of long and short-term noise measurements. Long-term measurements provide a detailed understanding of noise patterns over extended periods, while short-term measurements allow us to capture variations in noise intensity during peak operational hours.
Step 4: Noise Modeling and Analysis
Leveraging our expertise in noise modeling, we analyze the collected data to create accurate noise contours and maps. Our team employs industry-leading software to process the information, providing a comprehensive representation of the airport’s noise footprint.
Step 5: Calibration and Fine-tuning
The noise emission maps are meticulously calibrated and fine-tuned using additional data inputs and verified against real-world measurements. This process ensures the accuracy and reliability of the final results, making them invaluable for noise abatement planning.
Step 6: Consultation and Stakeholder Engagement
We actively engage with airport authorities and local communities throughout the analysis process. Our team conducts consultations to gather feedback and insights from stakeholders, allowing us to address specific concerns and consider community interests.
Step 7: Tailored Solutions and Mitigation Strategies
Based on the analysis results and stakeholder inputs, we develop tailored noise mitigation strategies. These may include changes in flight procedures, runway usage optimization, aircraft fleet modifications, and noise barriers, among other measures.
Step 8: Transparent Reporting
Our findings, noise emission maps, and proposed mitigation strategies are presented in transparent and user-friendly reports. We ensure that technical information is accessible and easily understandable for all stakeholders, promoting informed decision-making.
Step 9: Continuous Improvement
At NOISE ACH, we are committed to continuous improvement and staying at the forefront of acoustics research and methodologies. We regularly assess our processes to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of our aircraft noise emission analysis.
By following this comprehensive step-by-step process, NOISE ACH delivers reliable and actionable insights that contribute to sustainable aviation practices and positive relationships between airports and nearby communities.
